Japan Trip - Part Four: Tokyo and Kyoto

Here's the last part of my little adventure in Japan. It was around Children's Day when we visited Tokyo Tower so there were still a lot of the decorations hung up in the popular areas.

We stopped in the cafe at the entrance of the Tower which was themed on the anime One Piece.

We had an iced latte and a chocolate cookie milkshake. The latte had a swirl of candy floss on top which I was very excited about!

We also shared a mug of waffle fries which were very tasty.

The cafe was decorated with little nods to characters from the anime i.e. Chopper's backpack and Luffy's straw hat.

Not sure who this is but he was hidden away in the ceiling!

Up to the main viewing floor.

On the walk back we stopped at some of the shrines.

All the unlucky fortunes drawn are tied here.

Onto Kyoto where it had been raining most of the day so I didn't get many photos.

That's the end of my trip for the most part. I may add some other photos later of my shopping experiences there as I went a bit overboard in that area :P I hope you enjoyed my little collection of photographs and memories of Japan. I definitely intend to go back soon!

November Favourites

Headphones upgrade! One of my first posts was on iLuv Headphones which are a budget pair of headphones that look cute in the pastel tones they have but I recently found that I couldn't wear them for too long as they put too much pressure on my ears. Unless they were meant for kids or something I don't know why its like this. I decided to spend a bit more money and get some proper headphones and these were the result. I originally saw these Philips Citiscape Frames on the urban outfitters site where they also had them in a tortoiseshell colourway which I spent too long deliberating on whether I should spend the money on and they sold out. Annoyingly, I couldn't find them anywhere else so I got these black ones which I love as well. They are styled on sunglasses (hence 'frames') which I think is a really cool feature. They have a denim style fabric on the band which I believe adds a bit more comfort. Its safe to say I don't have the same problem with these as with my previous headphones.

Also loving the packaging it came in and the pattern inside to compliment the headphones shape.

Secondly are the new gift sets Benefit have brought out for Christmas. They knock down the price it would cost to normally buy the items inside separately and give you it in a pretty tin. It has really smart packaging and you also get a little booklet with tips for putting the make up on.

Nerd mode activate! It was my birthday this month so I went a bit mad with the anime/manga/gaming habit I have. I bought Pokemon X from Argos who give you a free poster with the game that is double sided. I love the brush stroke style on the first side. With Madoka Magica I had only seen the first episode of the original version and thought it was interesting. I read a few reviews that said it wasn't like the usual 'magical girl' anime and was intrigued. I was really impressed when I watched it (marathon style) and I loved the music. I definitely recommend it if you like anime.

Love of Japanese and American things

Last weekend I went on a trip to Birmingham to meet up with Kristi and she showed me this amazing candy shop called cyber candy. It has sweets from all over the world and we spent quite a while in there trying to decide what to buy. I ended up getting these Hello Panda biscuits that have different fillings in. I've tried the normal chocolate ones before and was excited to see what these would be like.

In the Selfridges they have in the Bullring there was a display on popcorn machines and all sorts of different toppings. I decided to try this seasoning in the caramel flavour. They also had chocolate marshmallow which intrigued me. Its like a powder that you sprinkle on the popcorn but says it can be used on cereal, fruit and toast. It wasn't an overpowering flavour but still good to sweeten things up a bit.

We journeyed onto Leicester that I never realised had a Forbidden Planet store. It seemed to specialise in manga compared to the Bristol store which has more anime DVDs. I am a big fan of Souleater as I have seen the anime and love the whole concept. I had heard of the 'NOT' series but never seen it in the stores. When I spotted this I was impressed with the print quality and style on the cover.

The characters are printed with a glossy effect and I love how they are outlined in bright colours rather than the usual black.

Cardcaptor Sakura was the very first anime I had seen when I was 10 years old. I look back on it now and the dub is actually pretty bad but I watched the original and couldn't believe everything they altered and changed in the storyline. I wanted to give the manga a go and see how that differed from the anime. Also these omnibus special editions had colour prints of the characters too.

I had to take a photo of my favourite outfit that she wears ^^

This is my little collection so far which I hope will grow bigger.

One last thing I spotted in the forbidden planet store was this adorable plushie of a Meow Wow from the Kingdom hearts 3DS game. I really wanted to get this but it was a bit out of my price range so I will be saving up for it and it shall be mine!

I had a little look at amazon to see if it was any cheaper and ended up seeing a plushie of a heartless! This will also have to be mine... eventually.

One last thing I needed to try was a Cinnabon which has a shop in the Highcross in Leicester. They are these amazing cinnamon rolls that are huge! I've gotten over the novelty of Krispy Kreme so I think this will be replacing it.
